ClearPlay Announces Filtering for 1000 Movies

Will add Television DVD’s beginning January 2005.

Salt Lake City, December 26, 2004 – ClearPlay Inc., the leader in parental control technology for movies, announced today that it now offers filters for over 1000 movie titles, including widescreen, full screen and special editions.

ClearPlay’s technology comes embedded in DVD players, such as a 2004 RCA product. The company creates frame-accurate filters that skip or mute over explicit sex, graphic violence or vulgar language in DVD movies. Customers can customize their ClearPlay experience by choosing from 14 different category settings.

“You would be hard pressed to name popular movies that we do not support with a filter,” said Matt Jarman, ClearPlay founder and vice president of product development, “including nearly 80% of the academy-award winning feature films of the past three years. The reaction to our product selection has been tremendous.”

Other interesting facts about ClearPlay’s Filter collection:

  • Movie with the most skips and mutes: Training Day.
  • Includes entire collections of Lord of the Rings, James Bond, Austin Powers, Indiana Jones and Police Academy.
  • Lowest Grossing Theatrical Release: Haiku Tunnel, $251,058.
  • Oldest Movie: Lawrence of Arabia, 1962.

In addition to supporting over 1000 movie titles, ClearPlay also announced that it would begin releasing filters for popular TV Series DVD’s, such as Seinfeld, Friends and Curb Your Enthusiasm. “TV collections are now some of the top-selling DVD’s,” said Jarman. “It only makes sense for ClearPlay to provide filtering options for these as well as movies.”
