ClearPlay Awarded Patent Patent covers skipping and muting of movie content. Company building dominant IP portfolio in consumer electronic parental controls. Salt Lake City, May 13, 2005—ClearPlay Inc., the leader in parental control technology, has been awarded a process patent covering its skipping and muting technology. Patent #6,889,383, “Delivery of Navigation Data for Audio and Video Content,” was awarded to ClearPlay Inc. on May 3rd. The company has also filed for additional patents covering its core movie filtering technology, as well as International protection.This was the first patent awarded to ClearPlay, which incorporated in 2000. It is the first technology in the company’s mission to transform the state of consumer electronic parental controls. While previous products, such as the V-chip, have been cumbersome and ineffective, ClearPlay’s movie filtering approach provides consumers with personalized controls and precise skipping and muting. “The ClearPlay patent represents a pioneering invention in the area of parental controls and DVD filtering,” said patent inventor and ClearPlay founder Matt Jarman. “The ClearPlay movie product has extraordinary potential in DVD, DVD-ROM, cable and satellite, in both the U.S. and internationally.
