Recognized as one of the top consumer software products.
SALT LAKE CITY, April 18, 2007 – ClearPlay Inc. has been named a finalist in the Utah Innovation Awards, as presented by the Stoel Rives law firm and the Utah Technology Council. ClearPlay is one of three finalists in the Consumer Software category, with the winner being announced on May 10th. ClearPlay markets a movie filtering product which allows consumers to watch regular DVD’s, but with complete control over sex, violence, profanity and other potentially offensive content.
ClearPlay was chosen by a panel of 60 experts selected from government, private industry and the academic community. The award is based on the uniqueness of the innovation and the market potential of the product. “It’s great to get this kind of recognition,” said ClearPlay Founder and Vice President of Product Development Matt Jarman. “We have received positive feedback from thousands of ClearPlay customers across the country. Now it’s nice to be recognized by the broader business community as well.”
Jarman and his brother Lee founded the company in 2000, using the emerging DVD technology to provide a new level of choice to families. Since then, ClearPlay has been licensed by major manufacturers, and appeared in national retail. ClearPlay has received favorable reviews from parents and family organizations, and has received seals of approval from The Parents Television Council and The Dove Foundation.
ClearPlay’s patented technology uses Filters that are created specifically for each movie, allowing for frame-specific skips and mutes. ClearPlay offers Filters for over 2100 top movies, and adds more every week when new DVD’s are released. The ClearPlay DVD player uses a USB FilterStik? to transfer new Filters from a PC or laptop to the player.
