Timing now right for institutional investment
ClearPlay Inc., the leader in DVD movie filtering, has been invited to present at the William Blair & Co. Private Equity Conference held October 12-13 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago.
ClearPlay is a consumer electronics technology that allows families to watch movies while skipping over offensive content, such as graphic violence, nudity and profanity. ClearPlay was introduced nationally in June of this year on RCA DVD players, which have been carried in Wal-Marts, Kmarts and other retail outlets. The product was featured in major media outlets, including The Today Show, USA Today and hundreds of newspapers and television stations.
“The time is finally right for us to open up our business to substantial investors,” said ClearPlay CEO Bill Aho. The William Blair Private Equity Conference is a tremendous, highly respected place to introduce our business plan.”
“We have a running start to dominate a potentially large and emerging market, with low capital requirements and software margins,” he added.
ClearPlay’s vision is to ride the growing media concerns among families into a leadership position in consumer electronic parental controls. Short-term plans call for expansion of the proven movie filtering technology to DVD, Digital Video Recorder, Cable and Satellite platforms. Revenues are generated through both licensing and the sales of new filter content to consumers. A second product, ClearPlay TV, will hit the market in 2005.
RCA was the first company to launch DVD players with ClearPlay Filters, with distribution in Wal-Mart, Kmart and other retailers. The launch has been successful and response to the product has been extremely positive. ClearPlay has been featured on major media across the country and has been endorsed by multiple family and parenting advocates and organizations.
